Motherhood in Isolation by Rajita Tippavajhala
20 Inches x16 Inches x 1 Inches
Being a new mother is hard in itself. Having no one to help out during these times (because of social distancing) is even harder.
Making art is my solace and a means to my self-discovery. The act of laying paint on canvas, playful or deliberate is reflective of my state of mind.
I started "Motherhood in Isolation" as a new mother, as a way for me to connect to my inner nurturer. Just like motherhood, it quickly became quite chaotic. I had to find strength in my vulnerability and that's exactly what this painting provided. A calm resolve. The triangular shape of the figure feels like a mountain and gives this sense of stability and balance. The soft colors give this feeling of warm motherly embrace.
