My work involves a lot of textures and patterns and this piece falls in line with that. I regularly paint on wood panel and incorporate the natural pattern of the wood into my work creating a juxtaposition between the natural and the man-made. In this case, I chose Elijah McClain as my subject matter because I feel like no other news or current evens matter (Especially locally) at this point while his killers walk free; I feel real strongly about this. Proceeds for this piece will go to charity if it sells, so I have no issue asking for a high price.
