Collection: ZOOM Be It

As the pandemic hit in March of 2020, Access Gallery was forced to seek other ways to engage their participants and, like many, turned to online teaching via the Zoom video meeting platform. Through the coordination of Associate Director, Cris Ciani, Niza and other local working artists —Jordan Bobrick, Kelly Craighead, Jake Fairly, Javier Flores, Niza Knoll and Amy Siegel—were able to instruct and interact with Access Gallery artists throughout the year, mostly on Zoom with a few attempts in garden settings and indoors with masks and distancing. The work generated during this time by the Access artists, (whose work is credited by first name only) will be on exhibit from January 8- January 30^th in “ZOOM Be It” at Niza Knoll Gallery. Additional pieces by the instructors will also be shown. 

Access Gallery is in the midst of renovations to their space, so it was an obvious fit to hold the exhibit next door at Niza Knoll Gallery. Examples of work will be showcased from the various classes that included an introduction to master artists, portrait painting, abstract, cartooning, Frida Kahlo, free drawing, painting, and computer art. Some may also recognize the piece “Dragons and Dinosaurs on a Zoom call” created by Access artist Nicole, that is currently being featured on a 17’ x 19’ billboard on 16th and Champa Streets in Downtown Denver.
