Collection: Pat Lickly

As an avid mover of earth in the garden, small wonder that the tactile feel of clay drew me into hand built, decorative ceramics.  More recently, I’ve transitioned into mixed media, with an occasional  foray into the abstract realm.

I often imbue graphic symbolism from distant cultures into my art work which lends a sense of ethnic identity. Found objects like coins, beads, stone and metal add an earthy, real world authenticity. Historically I have used the iconic robe image in my ceramic work which also emerges in my figurative pieces

After receiving a Bachelor of Fine Arts from CSU, I held positions in the graphic design world and later as art director in the corporate world.  Having a passion for fashion, I then opened Rich Rags, an upscale women’s consignment clothing store in central Denver.

After 14 years, I closed the store and renewed my artistic roots by taking classes in different art forms at the Art Students League of Denver where I discovered a calling for ceramics. I transitioned into full time art in 2001, showing in a number of area galleries before finding a creative home in 2010 as a founding member of The Mix Co-op here in the Niza Knoll Gallery.
