Hopeful; one in many blue moons by Kelly Austin-Rolo
Encaustic, pastel, mixed mesi
30 Inches x 22 Inches x 0 Inches
The focus of my work is hinged on the urban, rural and coastal landscapes that I have called home. My abstract art combines elements from the built environment and the natural world. The result is the representation of virtual places that evolve while the works are created.
During the last six months this statement has taken on a new meaning of how to still connect with people and places that are in my new geographical place in the world....and the sadness of being unable to visit the places I have lived and the places I could have traveled to and family and friends I NEED to see. The stitched-together piece represents that, although torn apart, we will be together again. The other two pieces, to me, are a vision of the sky; that no matter how far apart we are....we still view the same sky and world.
